REVIEW: Cahors Malbec - Château Combel-la-Serre
This is the wine of the provincial French childhood I never had. It’s rich with memories. A little mixed into water on a hot day while my imaginary grandparents finish the bottle. Plates of fresh melon, and apricot tarts. It would be amazing with rich fatty duck. It’s a big wine, a little sweet – earthy – like red berries and freshly cut grass. It has that deep red, rich velvety consistency you want from a Malbec. It’s a lovely wine that will transport you. It’s a wine for when you have no cares in the world, when the hardest decision you have to make is where to go for dinner and all you need to do is take it in.
