Coup de Chance - Maison Ventenac
|ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 12%||GRAPE: COLOMBARD, CHENIN BLANC, GROS MANSENG|
|VINTAGE: 2017||REGION: AUDE, FRANCE|
We're not sure whether winemakers Maison Ventenac were being playful, humble or truthful when they named this wine 'Coup de Chance', which translates as 'stroke of luck' - but whatever the case, they've created a delightfully pure white wine with grapefruit, crisp citrus and fresh mineral flavours.
The vines are planted on hillsides around Maison Ventenac and enjoy the Languedoc sun all year round, cooled by a fresh Mediterranean breeze. They also benefit from a very special soil structure: Formed 50 million years ago when the land was still beneath the Mediterranean, this white limestone is very chalky and brittle and gives the wine its fresh 'mineral' character.
Whilst being fresh, this wine is not lacking in body, so it can be enjoyed by itself or with a variety of foods. We particularly recommend pairing it with seafood dishes, white meats with creamy sauces or nutty salads.
